Dance of the Moonlit Shadows

In the embrace of twilight's sigh,
where stars whisper secrets to the night,
a gentle pull of gravity,
calls us to the floor of dreams.

Can you hear the echo of crickets' giggle,
as they hide beneath the cloistered willow?
They laugh at us, oh childlike they sing,
in melodies utterly free,
and dark.

Yet the dance steps flicker,
like candle flames upon a forgotten altar,
one pause, one nod,
and the shadows leap into stories untold.

So shiver we must, echoing joy's chill,
as the marionette Moon orchestrates
our steps, her smiles frail and phantasmal,
painted in hues of yesterday's dawn.

Follow the song, it won't lead astray,
but tread carefully, wanderer, where
silver shoes weave tales of light,
lest you be lost in your heart's quiet play.
