Molecular Dialogue

"Do you ever feel, Oxygen, that we're the uncelebrated heroes of the cosmos?" mused the Carbon atom, adjusting its orbital.

Oxygen sighed audibly, if such a thing was possible. "I suppose so, but it’s rather existentially crippling, don’t you think?"

Here they were, at the crossroads of space and time, pondering the infinite questions of molecular life, with only hydrogen bonds in between.

"Is it wrong," Carbon continued, "to feel slightly... aghast at our incessant reactionary lifestyle?"

"Agreed," said Oxygen, "but what can we do? Resist the bond? Become a noble gas? It's a comedy of errors, my friend."
