The Mystery of the Encoded Castaways

Transmissions from our research vessel, S.S. Quirkiness, have led us to uncover a beach littered with messages wrongly presumed invisible. Departments of Seagull Studies have determined the encodings to be humorous but befuddling.

As fate (or a particularly capricious octopus) would have it, our intern, a dolphin named Byte, found this amongst the sands:

"If you were a coconut, where would you keep your secret messages?
Indeed, the pineapple does not wear shoes—thus, it cannot testify in court."

Interpretation attempts continue; however, free wifi at the nearby tiki bar has lured most team members into a far stupor.

In untangling fate's threads, we've learned a crucial lesson: Do not crochet while piloting a research vessel.
