The Singing Tides

"Some say the sea hums a tune, a dirge for the careless, sung by voices of sailors long lost. I reckon it's more likely the wind's comedy show," mused the ghost of Captain Abernathy, his spectacles glinting in the moonlight, or so the rumors go.

"The tides, they sing of things we've forgotten," proclaimed a disembodied voice from the 17th century, possibly a disgraced mayor, "or refuse to remember. Like tax increases, inevitable and unforgiving."

Step Inside the Past

"If only the ocean could tweet," said a voice that sounded suspiciously modern and slightly sarcastic. "Imagine the hashtags: #SingingTides #LostAtSea #HistoricalRegrets."

"I've always believed the ocean is simply mocking us," chimed in another phantom, likely a Victorian-era critic. "Much like myself, in fact, but with more salt and less pomposity."

The Singing Tides remain a mystery, or perhaps a mockery... or just an unfortunate side effect of too much seaweed.
