Murmurs of the Whispered Lore

The Tale of Verenthia

In the ancients' forgotten parlance, the name Verenthia carried weight beyond measure, whispered in reverence and fear alike. Nestled amidst the emerald peaks of the Forsaken Highlands, it was here that the mountains murmured secrets untold, only audible to those attuned to the sighing of the stone. 1

Long before the age of iron and steam, Verenthia thrived—a city of lumarc, bathed in a luminescent glow thought to come from the very heartbeat of the earth itself. Its citizens, known as the Verenthians, bore the talent for weaving light as easily as one weaves cloth. Yet with such gifts came the burdens of isolation and mystery, confined behind shimmering gates that few dared to approach.

The Invisible Manuscript

According to the Archivist's Folly, an obscure compendium of dubious authenticity, Verenthia's final hour was presaged by the appearance of an invisible manuscript. This tome, said to be composed of words from a language older than time itself, eluded all but the blind seers who claimed to read it in their dreams.^ 2

Footnote 1 concerns the lost tome, "Songs of the Stone" by Salvi Xylen, rumored to be buried within the caves of the Echoing Wind. Footnote 2 refers to excerpts from "Chronicles of the Unseen" by Riel Vesterwen, whose bindings are said to contain the laughter of ancient stars.
