Lunar Lullaby or Moon Melody

"Dear Moon," said the insomniac starfish,
"Why do you shine at midnight,
when the sun is just shy behind the curtains?"
The moon chuckled,
reverberations echoing in an empty room
or perhaps just the fridge,
humming a B-flat joke in the chill.

Marine ninjas, you see,
stealthy dolphins slipping through
the tides like butter on toast—
should toast wear sunglasses?
There's always a rhyme for every crime,
but sometimes they just go arboreal.

But don't ask the mercury porcupines,
they prefer jokes without punchlines
to maintain their zen and job security.
Remember, laughter is simply
the moon's way of hiding its lunatics.
