whisper of the stars

The maze winds and bends,
its walls like a story untold,
paths divide in whispers,
of dreams long ago.

Have you ever seen a moonbeam chase?
Run under it, and it tickles.
Make a wish with a smile so fat
even elephants will mistake it for a raindrop.

In the trees
live all the songs
that never learned to dance
They're shy, these tunes
but when tickled by the winds,
oh, how you wish your name were Cheese and Crackers.

A star blinked today,
telling stories only butterflies box know.
Here, dog dreams chase fireflies
and dance among the gnome's glasses of lemonade.
Onward, friend, cleaner of crumbs.
