Café of the Stars

Once upon a time, there lived a star
In a sky so far, it twinkled like a tear.
It was bright and yellow, with a smile so wide,
Telling stories of planets, full of pride.

"Hello little ray," the star said one day,
"With your bright silver coat, come sit, come sway."
And the ray whispered softly, "Why do you shine?"
"Because little one," the star said, "Of stories mine."

"What kind of tales do you have?" asked the ray,
"Of moons and comets, oh what a play!"
And the star giggled, a soft cosmic hum,
"Of children in darkness, waiting for sun."

The star's voice trembled, a soft, gentle sway,
"But my time is ending, turning night into day."
The ray blinked twice, not understanding at all,
"Will you go away?" "Just a tiny bit small."
